Trifexis: Does anyone have a decent heartworm/flea combo pill that tastes good?

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, there existed a chewy good heartworm pill.  I want it BACK (and I CANNOT remember its name). Even though we had this chewy wonder to keep our liver/white Springer funness free from heartworm, at that time, there was no good flea control, topical or oral.  In 1990 we were cursed dousing our Springer, Elwood, upside down on the front stoop, in a noxious fumatic liquid diluted in a gallon of water (the brand name escapes me, but we bought it from the vet) which must have been a scentific horror for that poor dog, but we were riddled with fleas and it helped.  It was expensive.  We were poor. (Elwood lived to be 14, and was cancer-free, so it wasn’t deathly, if that helps at all??)

Now, we are faced with a scientific miracle of flea and heartworm expulsion via Trifexis in combined in 1 pill, and it stinks so bad when you unseal it, puppy will run from the room.  6 months will set you back $135.  Make sure your love eats a lot of food.  Wait at LEAST half an hour.  Then shove the one inch in diameter down his gullet, hold his sweet fuzzy soft nose/mouth closed while he gives you the stink-eye.  Follow with p-nut butter, hugs, brushing, lay on floor, apply to all above and repeat.  Add wine for yourself. NO smiley icon is applied here

I know I am grateful Trifexis is available and works extremely well.  I am not changing and will continue to purchase this item.  I have nothing but good things to say about Trifexis, it is a good product, just wish it was more likable for dogs (I have no cats, so I cannot review for kitties).  I have an awesome vet (All Creatures), so I hope somebody can make a better combo soon.  I feel sure someone is working on this if I’ve thought to mention it :)

Please-y??

I  just checked out their site and you can only contact them via phone.  Which lots of people are OK with: 1 (888) 545-5973.  I did not see any email contacts available, but maybe they are adding those soon.

Mr. Chewy truly delivers pet happiness!

Indeed, the adorable name of this online pet supplier caught my eye.  And so I ordered Scout’s favorite treat of all time, Happy Hips (Dogswell).  This most exciting treat not only contains glucosamine and chondroitin for his aging hips, but it is delivered via cage-free duck breast jerky strips.  Scout bounds out of bed every morning and down the stairs to get his first treat of the day.  And he can!  No more of trying to shove a giant glucosamine pill down his throat or trying to hide it in his food (he’s not easily fooled, no matter how much peanut butter is involved).  Mr. Chewy stocks Happy Hips in 3 sizes (I ordered 2 of the largest) and shipping (1-2 business days) is free for orders over $49.  My order arrived exactly on time so Scout was happy sooner than later!  Thanks, Mr. Chewy! http://www.mrchewy.com/dogswell-happy-hips-duck-breast-dog/dp/28970

Gumroad.com

I swear, places to sell anything you can upload and share a link websites are popping up like spring dandelions!  Gumroad.com is a new one and I learned about it through Google’s email newsletter. So, the books are $0.99 and $1.99 as always.  These are PDF file downloads since I didn’t know if they accept .epub files.  If so, I can reupload.

Midwest Book Review

We’re reviewed!  http://www.midwestbookreview.com/  (Established in 1976, the Midwest Book Review publishes the monthly book publications specifically designed for community and academic librarians, booksellers, and the general reading public).

“The Missing Boston Terriers of Smith Street” is the first in a juvenile series about a Springer Spaniel dog detective named Scout, who does his canine sleuthing in Charleston, South Carolina. Scout knows all or most of the dogs in his neighborhood, but he tests his knowledge, his doggy network of friends, and his nose in his madcap search for the lost Boston Terriers, Ike and Clyde, whose reward poster his Mumma reads to him. A canine search of the Charleston peninsula’s storm drains and sewers takes Scout to some rather interesting, even unsavory places. Fortunately he is resourceful and alert, and able to enlist the assistance of such unlikely friends as Chisholm, a talkative possum who adores chocolate and snacks. After a few scary encounters with sewer rats, a boa constrictor, and a full dunking in the river, Scout manages to rescue Ike and Clyde and snag them a safe ride home. Even a Doggy party is part of the action in “The Missing Boston Terriers of Smith Street!” This series, with five proposed comic illustrated volumes to come, promises to be enticing to comic canine mystery lovers age 8 and up.

Goodreads.com

OK – check out goodreads.com if you haven’t already.  It is big fun if you love to read.  A useful social network for readers and authors.  I learned about it in the Wall Street Journal last month when they ran an article on self-publishing.  My blog posts will post over there on my author page and I just uploaded both books to sell at GR in e-formats, 99 cents and $1.99.  Yes, A Ghostly Tail IS more, 30 cartoons, which is 10 more than the Missing Boston Terriers of Smith Street has :) Cheers!
